Corrugated Board
A dependable fluted board built for shipping pressure, stacking strength, and day-to-day courier handling. A practical choice when protection matters as much as presentation.
Bottle packaging usually goes wrong around the top, not the base. Custom bottle boxes can be measured around the full container, including caps, pumps and droppers, with inserts or dividers added where movement needs controlling.

Custom bottle boxes are made around the dimensions, weight and closure of the finished bottle. They can be produced for single bottles, multi-bottle sets, droppers and spray containers, with dividers, inserts, windows and custom printing. The right board and structure depend on whether the bottle is being displayed, gifted, stored or shipped.
A 100ml bottle measurement doesn’t tell us enough to make the carton. Two bottles holding the same volume can have different diameters, shoulder shapes and closures. Add a dropper, spray pump or dispenser and the overall height changes again.
We normally measure the container with its final closure attached. That gives a more reliable starting point for custom bottle boxes than working from liquid capacity alone.
This is particularly important for dropper bottle packaging, where the pipette cap can be wider than the bottle neck and needs clearance around the top of the carton.
The empty container isn’t the weight that matters. The finished, filled product is. A lightweight plastic bottle may work comfortably in a straightforward paperboard carton. A heavier glass bottle puts more load through the base and is less forgiving when there’s room to move.
The board, bottom closure and internal fit should therefore be considered together. For heavier products travelling through a courier network, corrugated packaging may be needed as the outer shipping carton rather than expecting the printed retail box to handle the entire journey.
Putting several bottles into one box creates a different problem: they can knock against each other. Bottle boxes with dividers separate the containers and help maintain their position during handling. The divider spacing should be based on the widest point of each bottle, not just the diameter at the base.
A mixed set may need something more specific. If a bottle, jar and accessory all share one presentation box, fitted packaging inserts can give each item its own position. The insert should hold the contents without making them difficult to remove.
A bottle display box is primarily seen in a retail environment. It may use a window or cut-out to reveal the label or bottle shape. A bottle presentation box is usually opened differently. The product may sit in a fitted insert, with more attention given to how the contents appear once the lid comes off. Shipping changes the priorities again.
Bottle shipping boxes need to account for movement, impact and the weight of the packed contents. For multiple bottles, dividers and a stronger outer construction become more important than decorative features. Where product visibility matters at retail, boxes with display windows can be planned around the bottle label rather than simply cutting a large opening into the front.
Closures are easy to overlook when a box is being measured from a technical drawing. A dropper cap may flare outward. A spray mechanism can extend above the bottle and have a nozzle projecting to one side. Pump dispensers can be taller again.
For custom dropper bottle boxes and spray bottle boxes, those parts should be included in the internal dimensions. It’s also worth checking whether the closure can rotate. A spray nozzle that turns sideways may need more clearance than one fixed in a single position.
The carton and bottle are usually seen together once the customer opens the pack. Repeating every piece of bottle-label information on the front of the carton can make the packaging unnecessarily busy. Instead, the available panels can be divided between branding, product identification, instructions, barcodes and other required information.
With custom printed bottle boxes, artwork should also account for folds, glue areas and any window opening. Black, white, kraft, blue and other designs can be produced through the choice of board and printing specification rather than relying on one standard appearance.
A few millimetres of variation becomes noticeable when staff are packing hundreds of bottles. If the carton is too tight, packing slows down. If it’s too loose, bottles can rattle inside unless additional material is added.
Before producing bottle boxes wholesale, it’s useful to test the final bottle, closure and any insert together. Once those details are approved, the same bottle box template can be retained for repeat runs, while artwork can change between products or ranges.

How do I measure a bottle for a custom box?
Measure the bottle at its widest point and from the base to the highest point of the fitted closure. Pumps, droppers and spray heads should be included rather than measuring only the container.
Does a glass bottle need an insert inside its box?
Not automatically. A close-fitting retail carton may be enough for some products, while heavier, fragile or presentation bottles can benefit from an insert that limits movement.
What packaging is suitable for several bottles in one box?
Dividers can separate bottles of similar size. Mixed bottle sets or products with different shapes may need a custom insert with individual compartments.
What is the difference between a bottle box and a bottle shipping box?
A retail bottle box focuses on fit, information and presentation. A shipping box also needs to account for distribution handling, packed weight and protection during transit.
How much clearance should be left around a bottle?
There is no single clearance for every bottle. It depends on the container shape, closure, board thickness and whether an insert is being used. A physical fit test is useful before production.
Can the same box be used for different bottle sizes?
Only when the dimensions are sufficiently similar. An adjustable insert can sometimes accommodate variations, but substantially different bottles generally need separate carton dimensions.
